Ok so I admit that I am a little behind the times on seeing some of the good movies of the past. Last night I saw We Are Marshall and tonight I watched the first movie in the Indiana Jones series. I dont know if anyone else has seen the connection with God in BOTH movies but my brain clicked it all together.
We Are Marshall:
Short version when the plane crash took the lives of the players and staff of the schools football team the whole town lost all hope in ever returning to "normal". But you had one Coach who saw the potential and heart in the remaining people associated with the team. Came in and worked close with the remaining team members that didnt want to give up , learned their hearts and showed them that they could "live" again.
God has worked and still works in the same way! Back a few thousand years ago you had those who didnt believe in what God had to offer. Like the remaing four members of the team, God had followers who didnt give up on him even though they were being tortured and killed for believeing. Then God sent a "coach". He sent his only son down to earth to learn the hearts of those around him and show them what they have to look forward to.....eternal life. Like the team of freshman and people who had never played before, God uses us, the believers and newly converted believers, to go out and show the rest of the world that no matter how hard trials are that there is someone on your side in your corner willing to help you reach out and overcome.
So are we the town who doubts or the team that never quits?
Indiana Jones : Lost Ark
Well as a Christian I watched this one and was remembering the bible stories of the Ark of the Covenant. With a little help from my aunt and uncle on the parts I got confused with! These people on search of the Ark amazed me at how much they didnt "know" or "understand" the abailities God had in protecting it!!!! As they were talking bout these "silly" beliefs I was talking to my aunt and uncle bout the things that were in the Ark. I remembered 2 of the 3. Aarons Staff, the Ten Commandments, and they had to remind me of the jar of manna.
So I wonder if someone were to find the Ark would they be brave enough to open it? NOT ME!!! If a soldier of the time was stuck dead for just touching the Ark to steady it back up while in movement, Im not touching it to see if that stuff is really in there. Plus when opened, if like the movie, I know that I am not worthy to look upon the face of God. One day I know I will see him....one day!!
Why cant we be like the Marshall football team and believe that anything is possible with God. That he's our "coach" and that we are to help so the others that no matter how hard things are that there is hope of getting through it? And that there is the greater things in the world that prove to those who dont believe that God is there. We may not have the Ark to go "see look" but we have so many other things to show his love, grace and exsistance.
Are we willing to go against the odds and get out there to tell em? Or just sit back and watch to see if someone else will??????????
